Here is a sample of a ceremony that I officiated recently. This is just one of many. You have complete creative control of how you want your ceremony to look.
Good evening and welcome. My name is Reverend Dina McGee, and I am honored to be officiating this very special ceremony for this beautiful couple. Today we celebrate the culmination of their love through this marriage ceremony! Let us bear witness to this ritual and accept the gift of their love, which they share with us all!
Jessica and Chad share a very special and committed love – one that is witnessed in their outward actions and their deep inner connection. They have asked all of you to be with them today because each of you has given something of yourself to their lives. Your friendship and love have helped to shape who they are today and they are both filled with gratitude for each and every one of you. They welcome you here and thank you for celebrating this important day of love with them.
SILENT BLESSING
The couple has several family members and friends that they would like to remember today. We will now take a moment, closing our eyes and bringing to mind those loved ones who could not be here with us. Though they are absent physically, we welcome them through our thoughts and share in their loving presence. (Pause)
INVOCATION
It is one of life’s greatest surprises when we see the accidental meeting of two travelers leading to a common journey. It is one of life’s finest experiences when we see a friendship grow into a permanent bond of love. It is this journey and this love that bring us together today.
This journey we call marriage is in many ways a simplification of life. It combines the strengths, wills, commitment, and patience of two people. Together, they reach farther than they ever would apart.
But a relationship cannot lie only in looking back nostalgically or forward in anticipation. It is loving in the present, accepting the relationship as it is now with its limits, continually surrounded and interrupted by everyday life. One must accept the ebb and flow of this journey.
Marriage is a new commitment at a new level—a new demand on the strength and trust of each partner, and yet a great adventure for both.
To make this marriage work, it takes more than love. It takes trust, to know in your hearts that you want only the best for each other.
It takes dedication, to stay open to one another, to learn and grow, even when it is difficult.
It takes union, the blend of hearts and minds while letting there be space in your new life together, so that each may encourage and nurture the individual growth of the other.
And it takes conviction, to go forward together without knowing what the future holds.
For the loving commitment between you is the sacred bond which unites your hearts now and eternally.
May you discover hidden treasures in each other.
May you reap the rewards of growth and healing through the gifts and challenges each of you will bring to the other.
As you take turns being the oil and the flame for one another, you support each other's successes and help all of your lights to shine in the world.
May you feel secure in the safe haven of your love and hold fast to the vision that seeks to grow and be expressed through your unique union.
Return to your love over and over again as shelter from any of life's storms and delight in the beauty and joy of that devotion and commitment...
